The Bhagavad Gita

Contrary to popular perception of this Hindu text, I did not find the Gita overtly religious. The Gita, which is a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna in an active battlefield, discussed more on what a human life should aim and espouse, and less on how central or important the Gods/Goddesses are in the Hindu culture. The idea that a Yogi is capable of proactively handling emotions is similar to the first habit discussed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, but I found the Gita more generally applicable to practical living. I would recommend reading this dialogue regardless of religion, since I believe the Gita has broad connotations on leading a meaningful life.
